About Dan Prescott
Helping Families Make Confident Financial Decisions
I believe life insurance should not begin with a product. It should begin with understanding. My role is to help individuals and families make informed decisions through education, thoughtful planning, and personalized life insurance solutions.
My Journey
A Career Built on Leadership, Coaching, and Service
Before entering the insurance profession, I spent my career as a business executive and athletic coach. Those experiences taught me that successful outcomes begin with listening carefully, asking the right questions, and developing a thoughtful plan.
As a coach, I learned that teaching is more effective than simply giving instructions. When people understand the purpose behind a decision, they gain the confidence to act.
That same philosophy guides every client conversation I have today. I focus first on understanding your family, financial priorities, and long-term goals. Only then do we explore life insurance solutions that may help protect what matters most.
Why I Became an Insurance Professional
Like many young families, I purchased both term and permanent life insurance to protect the people I loved. Years later, as those policies matured and my needs changed, I discovered that understanding life insurance was not nearly as straightforward as purchasing it.
Policy features, changing goals, unfamiliar terminology, and conflicting advice often made important decisions unnecessarily confusing. As family members began asking for help evaluating their own coverage, I found myself doing what I had always enjoyed: researching, comparing, teaching, and helping people understand complicated subjects.
After retiring from my business career, I decided that if I truly wanted to help others, I needed to understand the life insurance industry from the inside. I earned my life insurance license and intentionally chose to become an independent agent so I could represent my clients rather than one insurance company.
That decision was not about finding another career. It was about continuing a lifetime of helping people make informed decisions.
““I did not become an insurance professional simply to sell policies. I became one to help families understand their choices and make informed financial decisions.””
The Moment Everything Changed
The Conversation That Changed Everything
One experience had a lasting impact on both my family and the way I approach life insurance today.
My son, a successful manager in the technology industry, was advised to increase his personal life insurance coverage beyond the group policy provided by his employer. The early recommendation was based on a traditional round-number rule of thumb that had been used for decades.
The advice sounded reasonable, but it did not explain how much financial protection his family would actually need. When I introduced him to the Human Life Value concept, the conversation changed. Instead of beginning with an arbitrary number, we considered the economic value of his income, benefits, responsibilities, and the future financial support his family depended upon.
For the first time, life insurance became more than a policy amount. It became a strategy for helping secure his family’s economic future. That realization was meaningful for both of us and reinforced my belief that too many families purchase life insurance without first understanding what they are trying to protect.
That conversation became the inspiration for the Human Life Value philosophy that guides my educational approach and every recommendation I make today.
Experience Shapes Perspective
Over the course of my career, I have seen how quickly economic and personal circumstances can change. Each major cycle reinforced the same lesson: financial security is built during periods of stability, not after a crisis begins.
1981-82 Recession
Preparation matters when jobs, income, and borrowing conditions change.
2000 Dot-Com Decline
Concentrated growth can reverse quickly, making balance and perspective essential.
2008 Financial Crisis
Retirement losses, unemployment, and bank failures showed how interconnected financial risks can become.
Today
I help families prepare before uncertainty arrives by understanding their Human Life Value
These experiences strengthened my belief that investments, savings, insurance, and thoughtful planning serve different purposes. Life insurance can help protect the financial foundation a family depends upon when life does not go as planned.
My Philosophy
Before discussing policies, premiums, or insurance companies, I want clients to understand what they are protecting and why it matters.
Education is not simply something I provide before making a recommendation. Education is part of the recommendation
